In 1993, Dr Stanley was honoured as Visiting Professor to the Department of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery at Stanford University Medical Centre . He was invited by the Past Chairman, Professor Willard Fee. During the visit, Dr Stanley gave a series of lectures and held discussions at ward rounds with the residents, attending surgeons and staff members of the department was one of the highlights of his career

Prof Maran's visit to Singapore
Dr Stanley was trained by Professor A G D Maran, Past President the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and former Head, Dept of ENT, Edinburgh University in 1982/83 when he was sent on a HMDP government scholarship to Edinburgh. Prof Maran had paid several visits to Singapore and was instrumental in training several of the other younger surgeons. He is seen here paying a visit to Dr Stanley when he was Head of Department of Otolaryngology (ENT) at Singapore General Hospital.

At the Royal Marsden Hospital, Fulham, London, Dr Stanley is seen here with another international fellow Dr Rajiv Ahuja from India. The Royal Marsden Hospital had an international pool of Fellows who were there for research and training. It was a very intellectually stimulating environment.

Live Surgery in Ho Chi Minh City
 
Dr Stanley was a visiting expert to the University Department of ENT and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City. He was the Director of an Endoscopic Sinus Surgery course where about 150 ENT Surgeons from Ho Chi Minh City and the provinces attended the course. It was a two day course of didactic lectures and a live surgery demonstration was also included in the course.

Besides this Endoscopic Sinus Surgery course which Dr Stanley organized, he also spoke at a Symposium on Allergic Rhinosinusitis to over 200 participating ENT surgeons..

Dr Stanley also visited the ENT Hospital in HCM City, Vietnam and there were fruitful exchange of ideas with regards to training of surgeons at the ENT Centre.

Clinical Ward Rounds in Mandalay

At the Myanmar Medical Association Annual General Meeting, Dr Stanley was an invited guest speaker. He visited ENT Centres both in Yangon and Mandalay. Advanced ENT/Head & Neck cases were discussed at ward rounds with the attending surgeons and the Faculty members of the ENT Department at Mandalay, Myanmar.

Western Australia (Perth)

Dr Stanley was an invited guest speaker to a Symposium on Allergic Rhinosinusitis in Perth, Western Australia. He addressed an audience of 30 general practitioners and gave tips as to how primary health care physicians should deal with this very common ENT problem.

Post-Laryngectomy Voice Restoration Program

A Surgical Speech Rehabilitation course with the help of expert Speech Therapists and ENT surgeons from London was organised during Dr Stanley’s tenure as Head of Department.. This helped initiate the surgical speech restoration program in the Ear, Nose & Throat department, Singapore General Hospital.
